Sri Lanka’s cricket team has decided to play a series of ODIs and Twenty20 International matches in Pakistan next month.
Sri Lanka and Pakistan have also been scheduled for matches. According to the schedule, three ODIs will be played in Karachi while Lahore will host T20 matches.
Sri Lanka team arrives in Karachi on September 25.
The three ODIs will be played at the National Stadium Karachi on September 27, September 29 and October 2.
On the other hand, the three T20 matches will be held on October 5, 7 and 9 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.
Where will the test series be?
In addition, the cricket boards of Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to play the Test series in December.
Although both the cricket boards have not announced whether the test series will be in Pakistan or the United Arab Emirates. But the Pakistan Cricket Board is optimistic that the successful launch of the ODI and T20 series will help the Test series to take place in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has been trying to persuade Sri Lanka to play at least one of the two-Test matches in Pakistan.
Sri Lankan Minister of Sports Haren Fernando announced at a press conference yesterday that the Sri Lankan team will play a one-day series in Pakistan.
Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ehsan Mani spoke to the Sri Lankan Cricket Board President on Friday, after which it was decided to play the first ODI and T20 series, followed by the Test series. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship.
Ehsan Mani says the Sri Lankan Cricket Board appreciates the efforts that the Pakistan Cricket Board is making to restore the international cricket in the country.
He says the Sri Lankan cricket team coming to Pakistan and playing the one-day and Twenty20 series will also help to better assess the situation, which will be helpful for the Test series.
Remember that Sri Lanka is the last team to play Test series in Pakistan in 2009. During the same tour, the Sri Lankan cricket team was attacked by terrorists on the eve of a Test match played in Lahore, killing several people and injuring a few Sri Lankan cricketers.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board has continued its efforts to return to international cricket, and as a result of these efforts, the first Zimbabwean team played an ODI and T20 series in Lahore in 2015. Then last year, International XI, West Indies, and Sri Lanka played T20 matches in Pakistan.
As a result of these efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board, several matches of Pakistan Super League have been held in Pakistan and now the board has announced that next year all matches of Pakistan Super League will be held in Pakistan.
